worksafe’s vision is all victorian workers returning home safe to their families and communities at the end of the day. farm safety remains a key challenge for victoria’s agriculture industry. sadly, primary producers continue to be overrepresented in workplace deaths, making up 2% of the workforce but accounting for 14% of workplace deaths. worksafe is funding a lead organisation to develop a safety learning network (sln) within the agriculture industry as part of a two-year pilot program. d on successful models of agricultural extension and engagement to improve productivity, the sln pilot aims to improve safety on farms by creating a collaborative network that takes action and leads change on safety issues in farming businesses. key points: applications need to detail potential partners and target participants the sln needs to address primary prevention of the major causes of fatalities and injuries on farm the sln designs safety initiatives collaboratively, in at least one agricultural sub-industry or region in victoria the lead organisation: applies for the funding has experience in agricultural extension and project management develops a detailed project plan over a 3-month co-design period, supported by worksafe if approved for the next phase, implements and manages the sln and shares learnings from the pilot to inform future work. initially, two lead organisations will be funded to participate in a 3-month co-design period to further develop their idea for a sln and to develop a detailed project plan. after the three months, the two lead organisations will be required to submit their individual plans to worksafe for assessment. d on this assessment, one, both or neither lead organisations will then be funded for a period of up to two years to implement and evaluate their sln. please register/login to download the documentation for further details.
