The aim of the procurement is to establish a joint biobank for screening newborn babies and for research in the field that is available in Forskningsveien 2 (address), level U1, at Oslo University Hospital Trust. The biobank will consist of automated freezing units and existing ultra freezers that are currently in different OUS divisions.

The storage unit will function as a central biobank site for the Newborn Baby Screening Department, which as a national responsibility for screening for 25 serious congenital diseases, and which will also function as a central biobank for multi-disciplinary biomedical research at Oslo University Hospital, as well as the University of Oslo and Helse Sør-Øst.
