germany-munich: museum construction work./ consolidation measures ewer maria - part b lwork./ the german museum was founded in 1903 and is one of the largest natural science and technology museums in the world with a gross floor area of 73,000 m² and a total exhibition area of 41,111 m². with around 1.5 million national and international visitors every year, it is the most visited museum in germany. as a scientific institution of national importance, it houses a collection of over 107,000 s in over 50 subject areas. there are two large exhibits on the ground floor of the shipping department, including the historically valuable maria hf31 ewer. due to its size and location in the center of the exhibition, maria forms the start of the hall and is a magnet for visitors. the ship is one of the few surviving ewer-type working sailboats from finkenwerder near hamburg and is particularly distinguished by its even rarer original stock. due to its size and its unstable substance, the ewer cannot be removed from the exhibition rooms and must therefore remain there during the structural renovation and conversion work. due to the instability of the exhibit, there is a risk of damage from the construction work. in order to further preserve the maria, the deutsches museum would like to have extensive consolidation measures carried out before the start of the construction work, which essentially has the following goals: a. preservation and stabilization of the original substance that is still present. b. safe installation and presentation in subsequent exhibition operations. the overall measure is divided into 3 sub-service areas. this order relates to part b - lwork.
