germany-bonn: research and development services and related consultancy services./ research project - dzsf - evaluation of the use of tracking dogs to record reptiles./ in this project, the possible uses of sniffer dogs in the detection of legally protected, terrestrial reptiles in germany are to be examined at the modes of transport. the aim of the research project is (i) the development of a protocol (instructions) for the standardized use of tracking dogs when recording reptiles on areas or ancillary areas of the transport carrier, a (ii) scientifically d evaluation of the accuracy (including the provision of negative evidence, i.e. the absence of reptiles) and effectiveness of sniffer dogs in detecting sand lizards, and (iii) a scientifically d recommendation for the use of the method, especially in comparison to traditional visual observations by mappers (adapted from albrecht et al. 2014).
