Kilkenny LEADER Partnership (KLP) & its partners, including Ring a (RAL) seek to improve mobility within County Kilkenny through greater integration of the regional & local services. This consists of three main strands:
(i) coordination of schedules with the cooperation of the various operators;
(ii) infill of some gaps in mobility, in particular by providing some new local services that connect with the regional services;
(iii) facilitating integration & transfer between services, primarily through good quality traveller information (the of this tender) & improving physical conditions through the SuperStop  project.
Traveller information is central to managing integration between local services & longer-distance services, which have an inherent risk of being in delay. KLP seeks to procure a software system that can provide travellers with the needed information: prior to & during travel. Real-time, scheduled and event information about the routes & vehicle arrivals times will be made available through multiple channels, including on displays at the SuperStops, on the web & on mobile apps. Information will be provided about the services of regional and local operators of mobility services in the Kilkenny area. The software system will need to be able to obtain scheduled, event & real-time information from the operators’ in-house systems, process it, including generation of expected arrival times & delay information for all stops, & disseminate the information through the various channels.
The software system will need to be able to interface with the various in-house systems of the operators & be expandable to the scale and range of mobility services that could be expected in Kilkenny over the coming years. While the system will initially be implemented on a stand-alone basis, consideration must be given to how it would later interface with a regional or national passenger information system.
RAL will host and operate the system from a Kilkenny .
