Donegal County Council intends to carry out an Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme along a 2km stretch of the existing 'Muckish Railway Walk' to upgrade the route to Greenway Standard.  
The scheme forms part of the larger Burtonport to Letterkenny Greenway Project.  

The proposed works are to be carried out in the townland of Carrownamaddy (TD), Kilmacrennan, Co Donegal.  

The works will include the following:

•    upgrade of the existing small car park located at the trail head for the Muckish Railway Walk
•    Extensive drainage improvements over the 2km length of the project
•    provision of new surfacing from existing trail head past Lough Agher as far as the L-12826
•    provision of safety fencing where required
•    provision of access controls at all intersections with public roads and access roads
•    provision of information panels, seating and cycle stands
•    all ancillary works including any other works as described or inferred on the drawings
