Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking to procure a service for a Drug and Alcohol Testing and Laboratory Analysis for use within Children’s Social Care to support pre-proceedings – Public Law Outline.

Nationally the demand for child-protection services has been steadily increasing. This increase is partly attributed to parental substance misuse, which can have a significant impact on a child.

Drug and/or alcohol testing is requested for child-protection cases when parental substance misuse is expected to be a major contributing factor. These results are used to help decision making, particularly, in regard to the safeguarding of children.
