⑷ Basic requirements of the procurement :

A The computer system should work as the in Japan for analyzing the data from the ATLAS experiment which is run by an international collaboration and started full-scale data taking in 2009 at European Organizaion for Nuclear Research (CERN). The system should also constitutepart of the international Grid called WLCG (Worldwide LHC Computing Grid).

B It should have a hierarchical storage system of a large capacity which consists of disk arrays and tape library units and holds a large amount of data generated by the detector of the experiment and Monte Carlo simulations and secondary data derived from them.

C The system should have a large computational capacity for massive and fast data processing and Monte Carlo simulation.

D The system should have fast network connections between computing nodes and file servers, and it should have a sufficient I/O bandwidth for reading and writing a large amount of data.

E The system should have an enough bandwidth for the network connections to the outside world.

F The system should be able to use effiently the bandwidth of the international network connections with large latencies to CERN and other analysis facilities in the world.

G The system should be able to run properly various kinds of middleware such as the software for WLCG and the application software for the ATLAS experiment.

H The system can be used by many users simultaneously and it should not only support interactive usage but also provide an excellent job management functions for batch usage.

I The system should be reliable enough to operate continuously for 24 hours a day and 365 days per year.

J The system should be equipped with a set of excellent tools for system management and operation which facilitates software installation and upgrade, setting and reconfiguration of the system, and provides monitoring functions such as viewing system status and detection and notification of failures.

K The provider should ensure a maintenance and support system which can deal with troubles promptly and aid the operation of the computer system.
