Torbay Council has received funding from SALIX under the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and Leisure Energy had been asked to facilitate an immediate review of Torbay Leisure Centre which is one of the Council’s highest Carbon Emitters to accelerate potential carbon reductions at the Leisure Centre. Torbay Leisure Centre was built in 1976 with an extension built in 1984. The heating system is commensurate with the age of the building and beyond its economic life and is in need of full replacement. On the ground floor the building is d around a 25m, 6 lane competition pool together with learner pool and associated “wet change areas”. There are also dry change areas for the sports hall, gym and studios. The remainder of the ground floor comprises toilets, staff offices and the reception/café area. The boiler rooms and swimming pool filtration plantroom are also on this ground floor.
