⑷ Basic requirements of the procurement :

A The new system must be a distributed computing system consisting of a front-end server, a back-end server, a login server, and a storage server.

B The aggregate theoretical peak performance for double-precision floating point operations of the back-end server must be at least 24PFLOPS. The aggregate memory capacity of the back-end server must be at least 1032TB. It must be equipped with a program development and debugging environment, numerical libraries, and applications for scientific/engineering computation and data-centric computation.

C The aggregate theoretical peak performance for double-precision floating point operations of the front-end server must be at least 7100TFLOPS. The aggregate memory capacity of the front-end server must be at least 184TB. It must be equipped with a program development and debugging environment, numerical libraries, and applications for interactive use on scientific/engineering computation and data-centric computation. It must provide facilities to provision virtual hosts with the performance and the size specified according to the requirements of users.

D The login server must be equipped with a program development and debugging environment for scientific/engineering computation and data-centric computation. This environment must support performance tuning and debugging of parallel programs that uses entire processing cores of the back-end server.

E The storage subsystem must be equipped with internal disk arrays whose aggregate effective storage capacity is at least 50PB, and open disk arrays whose aggregate effective storage capacity is at least 10PB. It must provide file services for the front-end server, the login server, and the back-end server. The open disk arrays must be operational throughout the year, except for the duration of power cut of the computer room. The open disk arrays must provide file services for the internet, also.

F The hardware must be highly reliable. The contractor must provide stable maintenance and support services.
